Vilmart & Cie is a family-owned winery located in the village of Rilly-La-Montagne in the Champagne region of France. The winery was established in 1890 by Désiré Vilmart and has been passed down through generations of the Vilmart family.
The winery's vineyards cover approximately 11 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims area. The vineyards are planted with a variety of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
Vilmart & Cie follows traditional winemaking methods and ages their wines for at least three years before release. The winery produces a range of Champagnes, including their 'Coeur de Cuvee' Premier Cru Brut, which is made from a selection of the best grapes from their oldest vineyards.
The 'Coeur de Cuvee' Premier Cru Brut has received critical acclaim, with wine critic Jancis Robinson describing it as "a champagne that exudes finesse and floral elegance." The wine is known for its complexity and depth of flavor, with notes of citrus, stone fruit, and brioche.
Today, Vilmart & Cie is run by Laurent Champs, the great-grandson of the winery's founder. Champs has continued the family's winemaking traditions while also introducing modern techniques to improve the quality of their Champagnes.
