The Fattoria dei Barbi winery is located in the heart of the renowned Brunello di Montalcino wine region in Tuscany, Italy. The winery has a rich history that dates back to the 14th century when the estate was purchased by the famous Siennese banker, Giovanni d'Andrea. Over the centuries, the estate passed through the hands of a number of noble families and underwent significant changes until acquired by the Cinelli Colombini family in 1790. Since then, the estate has been in the Cinelli Colombini family, passing from generation to generation for over 200 years.
The family's dedication to winemaking has been unwavering, with many of the estate's historic wine cellars and vineyards still in use today. In the early 20th century, the legendary Italian wine figure, Biondi-Santi, recognized the quality of the estate's Sangiovese grapes and began using them in his own Brunellos.
To this day, the estate is managed by the Cinelli Colombini family, who have dedicated themselves to preserving the region's winemaking traditions while also implementing modern techniques and technologies for their winemaking practices. Notably, in the 1960s, the family introduced the first Brunello di Montalcino DOC wine label.
The Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015 wine is a testament to the estate's rich history and dedication to quality winemaking. This particular vintage has received high acclaim from wine experts globally and is highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate's vineyards, producing a deep, ruby-colored wine with aromas of black cherry, plum, and violet. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with a balanced acidity and tannins, and flavors of dark fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. This is a wine that is indicative of the Fattoria dei Barbi winery's commitment to producing exceptional wines that are reflective of their terroir and winemaking traditions.
