Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio is a winery located in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy, which has been producing high-quality wines since the early 19th century. The winery is situated in a beautiful and hilly landscape, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The estate covers more than 75 hectares, of which 22 hectares are dedicated to vineyards.
The history of Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio dates back to 1820 when the Colombaio farm was founded. The farm was owned by the Biondi-Santi family, who were the first to produce and bottle Brunello di Montalcino in the late 19th century. In 1958, the Colombaio farm was purchased by the Ciacci family and changed its name to Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio.
In the 1980s, Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio underwent significant renovations, including the construction of a modern cellar equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The objective was to improve the quality of the wines and the winemaking process while respecting the tradition and history of the estate.
Today, Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio is one of the leading producers of Brunello di Montalcino, and its wines are highly respected both nationally and internationally. The winery's commitment to quality and tradition has earned it numerous awards and accolades, including a 3 Bicchieri rating from Gambero Rosso, the most prestigious wine guide in Italy.
The winery produces a range of wines, including Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, and Sant'Antimo Rosso DOC. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015 is a standout wine, made entirely from Sangiovese grapes that are hand-harvested, selected, and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, followed by another 24 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
Fattoria Casisano-Colombaio is not just a winery; it is a place where history, culture, and tradition come together to produce exceptional wines that reflect the beauty and richness of Tuscany.
